Matthew Street Festival

So for those of you who aren't braving a tent in a muddy field this bank holiday weekend at Reading & Leeds (we're just jealous really, we'd gladly put up with the mud to see The Strokes).
There's plenty on offer in Liverpool this weekend, with the risk of wearing rubber footwear at a minimum.
First there's Creamfields which kicks off tonight. We've got loads of crochet waistcoats and chain belts to dress up your wellies. And of course the festival essential straw hats for just a fiver! We've also just got in loads of vintage inspired sunglasses, if the weathers nice (we'll keep our fingers crossed for you!!) which are just £5 each too!

And for those of us that aren't lucky enough to have a ticket to one of those festivals this weekend. Matthew Street festival is this bank holiday! The weather might be predicted to be horrible but we've got plenty of pretty clothes to brighten up your day, while you're enjoying all the live music. Like these amazing sequin pallazzo pants.

V Festival

Who's off to V festival today? We're super jealous!

Trend Report! Dot to Dot A/W11

Started topping up your winter wardrobe yet? Here's a few beautiful polka dot pieces from the A/W shows we're taking inspiration from.
Polka dots are cute and feminine, and can work with most existing pieces that you'll already have in your wardrobe.

Trend Report! A/W11- Fabulous Furs

There are so many to die for trends this winter, that we've been drooling over style.com to pick out some of our favourites.
The first trend that we're looking forward to wrapping up in is all the amazing new takes on fur.
Furs go from 2 extremes this winter. They're either chic and sophisticated or fantastically psychedelic!

If you're new to fur, a full on coat can be daunting stuff! Why not work the trend with a cute fur stole? You can layer it over your favourite coat, a leather jacket, or a 40's inspired dress as seen for Miu Miu, and Gucci.

A fur coat is a super glamourous piece, however Celine took a new twist and  stuck to classic colours with a masculine vibe.  This gave the fur coat a much slimmer silhouette.

My favourite take on fur is the rainbow of colours that they've been shown in. Missoni, and Emanuel Ungaro showed pretty pastels. Gucci, and Roksanda Ilincic went for bold brights. And Prada, and Louis Vuitton have gone for earthy tones.

So whether you go for brights, pastels, stoles, or coats be sure to make the most of our grey weather by cosying up in the easiest trend of the winter. Liverpool Pride

It's Liverpool Pride this weekend and the theme is The Summer of Love. A perfect excuse to wear flowers in your hair and bring out your best vintage pieces.
The event is free, so you can afford to spoil yourself a little before you head over. We've got a plethora of 60's and 70's dresses in the boutique at the moment, and, if we do say so ourselves, these are the era's Preserved does best!

Global Gathering!

Are you off to Global Gathering this weekend? Fancy a glamourous festival outfit that won't break the bank?

PORT SUNLIGHT SUMMER FESTIVAL 2011

Port Sunlight Village summer festival is this Sunday (24th). There are live bands, and even better, Pillbox Vintage are holding a vintage & retro clothing fair there, so you can spend your day shopping as well as enjoying the (hopefully) sun! Preserved Vintage will be there too, with our £10 sale rail, so it's an opportunity to snap up a bargain!
Our shop mascot Alfie will also be with us to enter the Fun Dog show, he's worth the trip to Port Sunlight alone!

Spend your pennies wisely in Preserved

We've got a sale rail in the shop at the moment, and everything on it is just £10!
So with a budget of £30 you could get yourself, a day outfit, a night outfit, and a holiday outfit. Not bad, if we do say so ourselves!
Here's an example of where your £30 would go.

For the day our pick is this floral tea dress. It has an elasticated waist so it's really flattering on. We'd style it with some gladiator sandals and a floppy hat for a laid back look.

Our night time pick is this gold 80's prom dress. It's such a fun look! We'd style it with red lips, and black sky scraper wedges.

Last but not least is our holiday pick. This bright floral playsuit. Wear with a cardi and flip flops in the day, or with bright heels, and gold jewellry of a night.

New ASOS Items!

We've added some more of Preserveds reworked turbans to ASOS. Each one is handmade and no two are the same. So you really are buying a one off piece.
Wear them with a maxi dress during the day or edge up a cocktail dress.

If I was shopping in Preserved today...

It's hard to be surrounded by such lovely clothes all day and not wonder what additions I'd make to my wardrobe. So I've put together a few items that I would pick up if I was shopping instead of working in Preserved today.

My first two picks are the colour to have in your wardrobe, orange! (Which I'm a bit obsessed with at the moment, it makes a tan look AMAZING!)

For day I love this orange maxi dress with flowers embroidered flowers on the bust. It has sheer sleeves so it would keep you cool on a warm day like today. It also combines a couple of this summers trends, 70's (it actually is from the 70's, no high street copies here!) and brights.




I'd style it with long loose boho hair and lots of gold accessories.

For a night time look this orange sparkly mini dress is stunning. The glittery fabric really dresses it up, and would make you stand out in a crowd. And the best bit is you won't see anyone else out wearing it.

I'd style it up with a high pony, hot pink wedges and bronzed make up.

The last item I love is a bargain from our sale rail. I'll admit girls, it doesn't look like much on the hanger, but once it's on it's absolutely gorgeous (and makes your waist look tiny, bonus!)

See, how good does it look on?! What I love about this dress is that it can go from day to night. Wear it with ankle boots and some retro inspired sunglasses in the day, for that festival look. (I'd channel Jameela Jamil)


And to carry it through to night swap your boots for your highest heels, add plenty of lashes and give you hair that Brigitte Bardot lift at the roots for a sixties siren look.
